 Player Slumps And Dies During Football Match In Osun

A player slumped and died while playing a football match in Ido-Osun Local Government Area, Osun State on Tuesday.

The player, identified as Damilola Oladapo, was playing for his side Premier FC Ofatedo in the Adola Football Championship, a grassroots football competition, when the unfortunate incident happened.

According to reports, ‘Dammy’ as he was popularly called collapsed on the pitch during the game and was immediately rushed to a private hospital in the area.

However, he was attended to at the hospital and was later taken to the Ladoke Akintola Teaching University Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Coach Leke Hamzat, Coordinator of the Osun Grassroots Football Coaches Association, confirmed news of the player’s death, describing the incident as unfortunate.

He said the deceased was “a good boy” who had shown no signs of illness, adding that the entire event had left him confused.

It was gathered that the late player’s body had been buried in the Ido-Osun area of Osun State on Tuesday.
