I had been trained to be President –Osinbajo

By Dayo Badmus,

Vice President of Nigeria Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has said that, he has received enough trainings to be President of Nigeria.

The All Progressive Congress, APC Presidential aspirant said this while speaking to leaders of his Remo Federal Constituency at the Akarigbo palace that all his working experiences from when he started as a teacher was not only for him to write in a memoir.

“I know that, governing at the highest level in our country requires some experience. It requires some trainings. After a period of 7 years of working as Vice President of Nigeria, seeing what many people have never seen, being able to participate at both local and international levels of governance, being able to tackle very sensitive issues of governance, I know that God did not provide those opportunities for me to write my memoirs only, No! God does not make mistakes. He provided those opportunities such that one day, I will be called upon to serve in the highest capacity, as President of our nation.” He said.

The VP while speaking on his preparatory journey into governance said,

“Seven years ago, I was nominated as Vice President of Nigeria. I had served in that capacity for this past seven years. This is after I did other things. As many of you know, I was first a teacher at the University of Lagos. I was also one of the first set of teachers to teach at the Ogun State University, faculty of Law. I taught Criminal Law.”

Speaking further, Osinbajo said, “I served at the United Nations as a Staff member for over two years. I was working in different places most especially war torn areas.”

“Also, after I became the Vice President, I had the unique opportunity of serving under President Muhammadu Buhari who exposed me to practically every aspect of governance, especially sensitive issues. I then had the opportunity of serving as Acting President on different occasions.”

“Let nobody tell us any story about that. The truth of the matter is everywhere I had served, I had served with utmost loyalty and commitment. I had put my reputation on the line sometimes, even my life. There is no one I served that they did not say I put in everything to make sure they succeed.”
