 Police arrests 40-year-old man for rape, indecency with minors in Niger

A-40-year old man Festus Okeke has been arrested in Niger State for raping two minors and engaging in gross indecency with two others in Kafin-koro, Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State.

It was gathered the suspect lured the four girls into his shop at Ishau village during and after Easter celebration in the area.

Okeke was said to have had carnal knowledge with two of the girls and fiddled with private parts of two other girls with his fingers.

The victims are between the ages of 10 to 13 years.

The suspect, who was described as a serial rapist, had been prosecuted at the Chief Magistrate Court 1 in Minna for similar incidents.

Parading the suspect, the Niger state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Wasiu Abiodun stated that the community reported Festus to the Police in Paikoro after the girls reported the incident to their parents.

Abiodun said that the case is under investigation and the suspect will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.

In an interview, the suspect confessed that he lured the girls with loaves of bread and N200 to use for the celebration of Easter.

Okeke, a father of four, however, stated that what occurred between him and the four minors was a mistake and that he regretted engaging in such an act with them.
