RCCG, Adeboye supports the EndSARS campaign

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has shown his support for the #EndSARS protests across the nation.

The G.O on Wednesday made his support known on twitter.

“Our daughters will not be able to prophesy and young men will not see visions if we don’t keep them alive.

“I support the youths in this peaceful protest as they “speak up” to #EndPoliceBrutality #EndSARS #ENDSWAT.” he tweeted.

This came after many Nigerian youths took up massive nationwide protest against extortion, extra-judicial killings, harassment and brutality of the youths by police officers.

The church in a statement by Johnson Odesola, RCCG’s assistant general overseer, said it also identifies with the protest.

The statement read that “The Redeemed Christian Church of God has identified with Nigerians presently protesting against police brutality and the abuse of power by the very institution established to protect them,”

“The Church declared its understanding and appreciation of the concerns and grievances of the youths and the generality of Nigerians and called for an immediate end to police brutality in the country.”

It also urged the government towards the restructuring of the Police and reorientation of officers on modern ways of policing.

While the Church said it recognised the disbandment of SARS and the establishment of a new outfit, Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT), it cautioned that “it should not become a case of old wine in a new bottle.”

The Church also appealed the youths should comport themselves and make sure their activities are within the confines of the law.
