Ronaldo and De Gea extend Rangnick’s winning start

By Joseph Ayinde

Cristiano Ronaldo’s late penalty and David De Gea’s heroics gave new Manchester United head coach Ralf Rangnick a second successive 1-0 Premier League win, beating Norwich City at Carrow Road.

Ronaldo sent Tim Krul the wrong way from the spot on 75 minutes after he had been hauled down by Max Aarons when contesting a cross.

Norwich goalkeeper Tim Krul denied Alex Telles, Harry Maguire and Ronaldo before the break, but his opposite number De Gea was the busier man in the second half.

First the United ‘keeper tipped a Teemu Pukki shot over before superbly saving Ozan Kabak’s header as Norwich sought an equaliser. Billy Gilmour’s powerful shot was then deflected wide by Eric Bailly.

United held on to climb to fifth, level on 27 points with West Ham United in fourth.

Norwich stay bottom on 10 points, three from safety.
