Set-up COVID19 test centres in all 774 local governments, Reps urges FG

The House of Representatives on Tuesday urged the federal government to set-up testing centres in all local governments areas across the nation.
The green chamber also resolved to invite the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, the Director-General Nigeria Centre of Disease Control, Chikwe Ihekweazu and Chairman of the COVID-19 Task Force, Boss Mustapha to appear before the House on Tuesday, 5th of May, 2020 to brief the House on COVID-19 efforts in Nigeria.
Furthermore, the lower chamber asked the federal government to give each state a minimum of N1billion support, while Kano should be accorded the same support as Lagos and Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The resolutions followed the adoption of a motion on matters of urgent public importance moved by the leader of the House, Alhassan Ado Dogwa from Kano state.
Leading the debate on the motion, Dogwa said: “The case we have in Kano is alarming, some people have called it a disaster, some have called it a calamity, Mr. Speaker, I want to say that based on my experience, it is not only a disaster or a calamity but it is a catastrophe.”
“Some of the deaths that we recorded may not be unrelated or connected with the COVID-19, but it is believed even by medical professionals in the state that there must be something behind or aside the COVID-19.”
When the motion was put to question, it was adopted by the House.
