Shina Peller, convener of Lead Generation Initiative, who is also a lawmaker has noted that a succession of bad leadership foisted on the country and the misgovernance resulting thereof is now mistakenly reflective of every Nigerian.

The lawmaker representing, Iseyin/IItesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency of Oyo State, called on youths to seize the opportunity of the 2023 polls to make their voices heard and also re-write their story.

Peller, spoke on Tuesday, during the training of 500 youths on leadership and governance, at the North East tagged ‘Get Involved Leadership Summits’.

He said the youths as the engine room of the nation must strive hard to achieve a Nigeria of their dreams, away from the current bad leadership and misgovernance, adding that 2023 presents a ‘golden opportunity’ since the incumbent president would not be in the polls.

He urged the youths to be the change they wanted to see, in the next president of Nigeria, within the confines of their own area as the only way to be that bridge of hope for the upcoming generation.

He said, ” Whether the government is involved or not, the first obligation of every generation is to be a bridge of hope for the upcoming generation. You must be able to write your own story for yourself. It is up to us to change that because bad leadership did not just happen to us. Bad leadership did not start with this administration, it is something that has been happening for many decades. So you will now see that bad leadership foisted on the country over time has now become a reflection of every one of us.”

He tasked the youths to strive hard to change the narrative of recurring leadership failures, adding that the youths as the engine room of the country can unleash their potentials as change agents to achieve a Nigeria of their dreams.

“It is up to us not to fail the coming generation. 2023 presents a golden opportunity for the youths to work towards achieving a Nigeria of their own dreams more so that we would not have an incumbent president in that polls. If truly, elections are won by numbers, youths this is the time to prove it,” Peller said.

In his remarks, Sadiq Daware, National Chairman North-East Commodity Association, attributed the woes of the youths of Nigeria to cyclical unemployment.
