Sowore Criticises DSS Boss, APC Chieftain Joe Igbokwe
Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has criticised the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Oluwatosin Ajayi, and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Joe Igbokwe over their alleged roles in his ongoing trial over social media posts about President Bola Tinubu.
Sowore made the remarks on Monday while speaking to journalists at the Federal High Court in Abuja after proceedings in the case.
The activist accused the DSS director-general of avoiding his responsibilities by failing to appear personally in court, describing him as a “coward”.
He also attacked Igbokwe, saying the APC chieftain had “lost his mind a long time ago” and questioned his sense of decency.
Sowore’s comments followed the court’s dismissal of his application seeking to compel Ajayi to testify personally in his defence.
Justice Mohammed Garba Umar ruled that another DSS official with knowledge of the agency’s relevant activities could testify on behalf of the director-general.
Following the ruling, Sowore’s lawyer called Michael Jego, a DSS investigating officer, as the defence’s third witness.
Sowore is standing trial over social media posts published in August 2025 in which he allegedly described Tinubu as a “criminal” and criticised the President’s claims about his administration’s fight against corruption.
