 Suspected Serial Killer Re-Arrested In Oyo

A man, Sunday Shodipe, allegedly responsible for the serial killings in Akinyele Local Government Area of Ibadan has been re-arrested by the police.

Shodipe had been arrested by the Oyo State Police after being named a prime suspect in the serial murders of residents in Akinyele LGA.

He had reportedly fled police detention on August 11th, 2020, with Oyo State Police spokesperson, SP Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirming reports of the serial killer’s escape.

Shortly afterwards, the Oyo State House of Assembly asked the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, to investigate the escape of Sunday Shodipe, the serial killer from police detention.

Several youths had also went to the Police Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, Oyo State, to protest the escape of the serial killer, Shodipe, from police custody.

To support the State Police-led search for Shodipe, IGP Mohammed Adamu had deployed detectives from the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and the Special Tactical Squad (STS) of the Force Intelligence Bureau, Abuja.

The State Commissioner of Police in Oyo, Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu, had also announced a reward of N500,000 for any individual who could give information leading to the arrest of Shodipe.
