‘This generation is being failed’ — Atiku slams Tinubu over corps members’ abduction
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has condemned the abduction of prospective National Youth Service Corps members in Imo State, describing the incident as heartbreaking.
Atiku, the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, called on the Federal Government, the Imo State Government and security agencies to urgently secure the release of those still being held by their abductors.
Twenty travellers, including prospective corps members, were abducted along the Owerri-Onitsha Road in Imo State while travelling to NYSC orientation camps in Abia and Akwa Ibom states.
Some of the victims have reportedly been rescued, while others remain in captivity.
Reacting in a post on X on Monday, Atiku also raised concerns over the continued captivity of more than 70 pupils and students abducted from Mussa and Lassa communities in Borno State.
He said, “This is a generation being failed at every stage.”
The former vice president also questioned the allocation of pipeline security contracts to politically connected companies amid the continued attacks and abductions of Nigerians.
Atiku urged the authorities to act swiftly to rescue those still in captivity and ensure their safe return to their families.
