 Thousands In Taraba To Receive Food Donations From CACOVID

The Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID) today donated food items to the Taraba State Government for distribution to 26,000 households in the state.

CACOVID, a collection of entities from private sector, said it raised the money used in procuring the food as a way of providing relief to people following hardship resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Representing the Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, at the event was Joseph Makoji.

Makoji had done the ceremonial handing over of the food items to the Taraba State Government.

He also gave an address where he explained that many families had been left depressed by the pandemic, either from job loss of family members or the restrictions on movements, which had reduce their income.

However, he noted that the CACOVID’s donation was among the most significant efforts by the private sector to provide succor to individuals affected severely by the pandemic.

Governor Ishaku of Taraba State was represented at the handover by his Chief of Staff, Istifanus Gbana.

In his speech, Gbana said the donation would supplement the government’s efforts to provide relief to vulnerable families since the start of the pandemic.

He further thanked the organized private sector for the donations, promising that they would delivered to those who needed them the most – vulnerable families and internally displaced persons.
