The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has donated N50million to support the traders who were affected in the Katsina Central Market inferno.

Tinubu, who is also the former governor of Lagos State, on Wednesday, made the announcement when he paid sympathy visits to affected traders and other victims of the market in the company of the State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari.

It was learnt that not less than 100 shops were razed and goods worth several millions of naira destroyed when fire gutted the market.

Some of the goods destroyed during the inferno that was said to have started at about 8am and lasted for several minutes include provisions, foodstuffs in large quantities, and books.

Meanwhile, as the fire raged on, hoodlums stormed the premises and carted away goods and other properties belonging to traders who were not on ground during the inferno.

Tinubu’s donation was aimed at helping the traders pick up pieces of their lives and return back to the market and rebuild their enterprises.

While condoling with the victims of the fire incident, the APC leader said despite the tragedy, the traders must never lose sight of the bigger pictures.
