UAE lifts visa restrictions on Nigerian nationals

By Emmanuel Awosika
The United Arab Emirates has lifted visa restrictions on Nigerians, Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, announced on Wednesday.
Sirika said the UAE had reversed the visa restrictions in return for the Federal Government Emirates Airlines operate in the country.
The FG had barred Emirates Airlines from flying to Lagos and Abuja because the UAE stopped issuing visas to Nigerian applicants.
Sirika revealed that the FG had demanded lifting of the visa restrictions as a precondition for permitting Emirates Airlines to operate.
“UAE has written to state that they agree to issue visas to Nigerians, consequently decision has been reached to allow Emirates to fly into Nigeria,” the Minister said on Twitter.
“Commencement of the Visa issuance is condition precedent. Please bear with this unusual situation. Many thanks”
