UK based Islamic Cleric, Saheed Shittu lands in Ikoyi Prison

A popular Islamic cleric based in United Kingdom, Alfa Saheed Shittu is currently cooling off at Ikoyi prison
Shittu was arrested on Thursday and consequently charged to court for denigrating and
defaming another Islamic cleric, Sheikh Alfulanny.
He was reportedly arrested by Policemen attached to the Lagos State Police Command after Sheikh Alfulanny reported the case to the command.
Shittu in one of his online lectures was said to have lied against Sheikh Alfulanny over money collected for a mosque project in Ibadan.
Shittu is currently be detained in Ikoyi prison after he failed to meet his bail conditions on Friday .
Shittu was granted bail with two sureties , who must have landed properties in Lagos.
The judge added that the sureties should deposit the original title documents of the assets with the court.
She ordered that Shittu be remanded in Ikoyi prison pending when he is able to meet the bail conditions.
The trial judge while granting Shittu bail also barred him from travelling outside Nigeria pending the determination of the case.
The case was adjourned till August 26.
Shittu has denigrated many Islamic scholars in Nigeria and some traditional rulers describing them as hypocrites and liars.
