 Veteran Actress, Orisabunmi dies at 60

Veteran Yoruba actress, Folake Aremu, popularly known as Orisabunmi, is dead.

The news of her demise was broken by the President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Bolaji Amusan, popularly called Baba Latin.

According to Baba Latin, the late Orisabunmi died late Tuesday, 5 January, 2021.

She was aged 60.

Her death came four months after the demise of her ex-husband, Jimoh Aliu popularly called Aworo, under whose tutelage she rose to prominence in the film industry.

Another senior TAMPAN member Tunde Ola-Yusuff also announced the death in a Facebook post.

“She left without a goodbye. The sudden death of Mrs Folake Aremu (ORISABUNMI) has been announced.

“Really a shock on everyone. Iya Oosa, may God rest your Soul among the righteous,” Ola Yusuff wrote.

Born on October 10, 1960, in Ilu Ola, Kwara State, she became popular in the 80s TV series Arelu starring her husband and others like Fadeyi Oloro.

Jimoh and Folake Aliu had a very rocky marriage. The two were separated long before Aworo died in September, 2020.
