 Village Head In Trouble after Selling A Baby For N20,000

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, in Kano is reportedly investigating the Village Head of Sabon Gari, a community in Fagge Local Government Area of the state over alleged child trafficking.

It was reported that Yau Mohammed had collaborated with the Fagge Hisbah commander, Jamilu Yusuf, to sell a young child for N20,000.

Learnt that Mr Yau has been suspended while NAPTIP is still carrying out its investigations.

Mr. Umar said the council decided to suspend Mr. Ya’u pending the outcome of an investigation by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

The village head’s suspension was confirmed in a statement on Tuesday, August 25 by Muhammad Umar, the secretary to the Galadiman Kano Abbas Sunusi.

According to Umar, “the council decided to suspend Mr. Ya’u pending the outcome of an investigation by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).”
