Lagos to launch virtual market platform for artisans

The Lagos State Government is set to launch an Artisans’ Virtual market platform by the second quarter of 2022.

The Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Mrs. Yetunde Arobieke, spoke on the development at a stakeholders’ meeting held in Alausa, Ikeja, noting that the initiative was designed to improve the condition of Artisans, enhanced productivity and ease of doing business in the State.

She said: “We have taken everything into consideration and committed to addressing the lingering unemployment crisis in the State through wealth creation and providing employment for Lagosians to ensure a sustainable economic growth”.

“The artisans will be verified and registered on the platform as well as the users who intend to engage and transact businesses with them. The platform will also serve as an avenue for feedback on service delivery as well as for mediation and conflict resolution if the need arises”, Mrs. Arobieke stated.

She informed that the Ministry has identified the informal sector’s challenges regarding access to market, which is now being holistically addressed through the development of an online portal to serve as a virtual Market Place for Artisans and those in need of their services.
