WASSCE Result Verification Fee Fixed at N4,000

Candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions will now pay N4,000 once to verify their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) O’Level results.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) announced the arrangement in a joint statement issued on Tuesday.

Under the new system, candidates whose admissions are coordinated by JAMB are required to verify their WAEC results once through the JAMB platform.

The verification outcome will then be made available to the tertiary institution where the candidate is seeking admission.

JAMB and WAEC stressed that candidates would not be required to pay another verification fee to their chosen institutions.

The two bodies also directed tertiary institutions to use the verified results transmitted by JAMB for admission screening, processing and other administrative purposes.

The development follows JAMB’s introduction of a system that allows candidates to upload and verify their O’Level results remotely from any internet-enabled location.

WAEC has authorised JAMB to share the outcome of the verification exercise with relevant tertiary institutions for admission and related administrative purposes.

The agencies said the one-time verification arrangement was designed to reduce the financial and logistical burden on candidates by preventing repeated verification of the same results.

They also said candidates who successfully complete the WASSCE O’Level verification through the JAMB platform would not be required to repeat the exercise.

The new arrangement is expected to simplify the admission process while strengthening the verification of academic records and reducing the use of fake or altered certificates.
