The wife of newspaper vendor killed by security operative attached to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has disowned her husband’s family over the demand of N500m compensation.

The widow, Josephine Okereke, declared her stance against this demand in a conference in Abuja on Thursday.

The family of Ifeanyichukwu Okereke, through the family lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), had written to Gbajabiamila, demanding N500m.

Ozekhome said he was mandated by the father of the deceased, Okorie Okereke; and the younger brother to the deceased, Destiny Okereke, to write the letter.

Gbajabiamila last week, had visited the family of the deceased and pledged to take care of them. He had also promised to ensure that justice is served.

The family however demanded more from the Speaker of the House of Reps.

However, Josephine urged the Speaker to ignore the family’s demand.
