Wike: I asked Adeleke to present certificate of return to Tinubu
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said he advised Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to present his Certificate of Return to President Bola Tinubu after winning the state’s governorship election.
Wike disclosed this while speaking at an event in Abuja.
He explained that his advice was based on the need for Adeleke to formally meet the President after securing re-election in the August 15 governorship poll.
Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party, was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), polling 511,067 votes.
He defeated the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes.
Following his victory, Adeleke visited Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he presented his Certificate of Return to the President.
The governor later met with Wike in Abuja, where both men were photographed holding the certificate.
Wike said Adeleke’s visit to Tinubu was part of the post-election engagements expected of a governor after securing another term in office.
Adeleke will remain in office for another four years following his re-election.
