 Basketball: Again, D’Tigers beat world number 4, Argentina

Nigeria men’s senior basketball team, D’Tigers played their second exhibition game in Las Vegas against Argentina, a country ranked fourth in the global rankings.

The Nigerian side defeated one of the top-ranked basketball teams in the world
71-94.

Argentina leads by two points after the first quarter, but the Nigerian team gave them a game.

Precious Achiuwa improved the tempo of the game in the second quarter. Obi Emegano found him and with a good leap he knocked it in. Achiuwa then drew a foul and made one of his two Free Throws, made a drive to take Nigeria 5 up, then sunk in a 3.
Argentina 26 – 36 Nigeria.

D’Tigers head into the break leading Argentina by 10 points.
Nigeria outscored Argentina 26-14 in the second quarter.
Half time: Argentina 33 – 43 Nigeria.

At some point, Nigeria led Argentina by 19 points. The southern American country tried very hard to drastically cut the deficit in the game, but D’Tigers didn’t give any room for that.

Nigeria went up 19 points after the third quarter
Argentina 55 – 74 Nigeria.

D’Tigers lead Argentina by 24 points at some point in the game. Miye Oni, Jahlil Okafor, Chimezie Metu, Obi Emegano, all D’Tigers players showed up.
Argentina 60- 84 Nigeria

The consecutive victory for D’Tigers over World number one, USA, and World number four, Argentina will surely give the Nigerian coach, Mike Brown a headache ahead of his final team selections for the delayed Tokyo Olympics.
