 Yoruba World Congress sacks four Executive members of council

The Executive Council of the Yoruba World Congress has removed the names of four prominent members at its meeting held Today, 25th August 2020.

The leader of the Yoruba World Congress, YWC, Professor Banji Akintoye called a meeting of the 16 member leadership Council at the Lagos international Secretariat of the organisation.

According to a release signed by 10 members, The meeting commenced with all members except four namely:

Dr. Amos Akingba, Akogun Tola Adeniyi, Prof. Anthony Kila and Mr. Solagbade Popoola.

The members though, present within the premises, choose not to attend the meeting.

The leader made five entreaties, four at the beginning of the meeting, and one at the end, to rationally include them in the meeting.

All the attempts unfortunately failed.

Failure of the attempts to bring the members into the meeting according to the release prompted the council to remove their names from the YWC council.

The Council stated that, the officials are hereby removed from their protem Executive positions with immediate effect but,

will continue to remain floor members of the Yoruba World Congress (YWC), if they so wish.

Also directed that, all materials, monies and paraphernalia of the organisation in the possession of the former officials should be handed over to the Leadership Council of the YWC with immediate effect.

The Council added that, Pending the official elections to nominate and elect the substantive leaders to lead the YWC into the future,

the remaining members of the Leadership Council shall continue to steer the affairs of the organisation under the able leadership of Prof. Banji Akintoye.

members who attended the meeting were: Prof. Banji Akintoye, Prof Ezekiel Ogundowole, Associate Prof. Wale Adeniran, Env. Kunle Adesokan, Otunba Sade Olukoya and Chief Imam Yoruba, Sheik Abdulraheem.

Others are: Mr. Akin Adejuwon, Arc. Akinola George, Mrs. Bunmi Abidogun and Pastor Olusegun Bankole.
