Abba Abubakar, son of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, has unveiled plans to mobilise two million supporters across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Abba, who is the founder and chairman of the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation (HBTO), announced the plan on Friday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretariat in Abuja.

He said the mobilisation exercise would begin in Abuja before extending to other parts of the country.

According to him, the organisation is also working to support the political activities of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, particularly efforts to secure Tinubu’s victory in the FCT and Rivers State.

Abba disclosed that HBTO was preparing for a major mobilisation exercise in Rivers State in the first week of November.

He said the organisation was committed to building a nationwide grassroots network, engaging community stakeholders and working with other political groups to support Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

As part of its activities, Abba also announced plans to introduce 10 luxury buses to provide transportation support for Nigerians.

He explained that the initiative would begin in the FCT before being extended to other states to ease the burden of transportation on commuters.

Abba said his decision to support Tinubu was based on his personal political convictions and assessment of the administration’s policies, despite his father being an opposition presidential candidate.

He acknowledged that the government’s economic reforms had brought difficult adjustments for Nigerians but argued that the policies were aimed at addressing longstanding structural challenges.

The HBTO chairman cited interventions in education, infrastructure development and increased allocations to state governments as some of the reasons for supporting the administration.

He added that individuals should be free to make independent political choices regardless of family relationships or differing political affiliations.

Abba’s declaration comes amid preparations by political parties and their supporters ahead of the 2027 general election, in which his father, Atiku Abubakar, is also seeking the presidency under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
