Petroleum marketers have cried out about attacks on petrol tankers by hoodlums under the guise of protesters.
The Public Relations Officer of the Independent Petroleum Marketer Association (IPMAN) Chief Chinedu Ukadike, said the incessant attacks have amounted to loss of petrol trucks and a lot of money.
He stared that petrol tankers with products belonging to oil marketers were set on fire on Thursday in Warri.
“They are burning three trucks. The cost or value of the content in those trucks is about N90m.
“That is outside the worth of the trucks that are being burnt. This is why we asked our tanker drivers to park or temporarily halt the movement of products.”
He explained that oil marketer in a move to avoid the destruction of oil trucks by angry youths had earlier instructed petrol truck drivers to cease movement nationwide
“That advise on the temporary halt of tankers movement was vital, particularly for volatile locations where protesters are highly aggressive.” He said.
The association also appealed for cessation of the protest nationwide, to enable government implement the demands of the protesters.
