The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has sealed several markets and plazas in the Ayobo area of Lagos State over repeated violations of environmental regulations.

The enforcement operation was carried out following persistent complaints about indiscriminate waste disposal and other environmental infractions by traders and occupants of the affected premises.

According to LAWMA, the affected facilities had repeatedly failed to comply with the state’s environmental sanitation requirements despite previous warnings and enforcement efforts.

The authority said the action was necessary to protect public health, maintain environmental standards and discourage practices that contribute to poor sanitation in communities.

LAWMA urged traders, business owners and residents across Lagos to comply with approved waste disposal procedures and ensure that their premises are kept clean.

The agency warned that establishments found violating environmental regulations would face appropriate sanctions, stressing that enforcement operations would continue across the state.

Residents were also encouraged to report cases of indiscriminate waste disposal and other environmental violations to the relevant authorities.
