Imo lawmakers impeach Speaker

The Imo House of Assembly impeached the Speaker, Chiji Collins, on Friday over allegations of financial impropriety, high-handedness, and gross misconduct.
The lawmakers reportedly removed the Speaker during a plenary session at the Assembly Complex in Owerri.
It was also gathered that 19 out the 27 members of the Assembly supported the motion calling for the Speaker’s impeachment.
Members of the House elected Mr Paul Emeziem, representatve of Onuimo state constituency, as the new Speaker upon conclusion of the impeachment exercise.
