Yakubu set for fresh five-year term as INEC Chairman after Senate Confirmation

Professor Mahmood Yakubu will serve another five years as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after the Senate confirmed his appointment on Tuesday.
The confirmation is sequel to an evaluation of the report by Senator Kabiru Gaya-led Senate Committee on INEC, which had recommended Yakubu for the post.
Several senators, speaking before a decision was made, touted Yakubu’s qualifications and expressed confidence in his ability to handle the job well.
