Students under the aegis of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) have accused an Amotekun official of killing one Akolade Gbadebo, a student of the University of Ibadan (UI).
The students, led by NANS President (Oyo State Chapter), Comrade Opakunle Mayowa and the Students’ Union Government President (UI Chapter), Comrade Akeju Olusegun, protested the killing of their comrade on Thursday in Ibadan.
According to reports, the protesting students blocked one side of the Agodi Secretariat-Bodija road, causing heavy traffic in the area.
It was gathered that the protesters accused an unnamed Amotekun Corps officer of having a hand in the death of Gbadebo.
They bore placards, with several of the messages on them calling on the government to investigate the allegation.
The deceased was reportedly a 400-level student at the University of Ibadan affiliated with the Federal College of Education, Oyo (Special) before his death.
Principal Information Officer for the Amotekun Corps in Oyo State, Mrs. Ayolola Adeloja, has denied the allegation.
