The United States has delivered military equipment to the Nigerian Air Force as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s capacity to tackle insecurity.

The equipment was delivered through the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), according to reports on the latest military support to Nigeria.

The development comes amid ongoing counterterrorism and counterinsurgency operations by the Nigerian Armed Forces, particularly against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in the North-East.

Nigeria and the United States have continued to deepen military cooperation, including intelligence sharing, training and operational support.

The Nigerian military has also received assistance from the US in its efforts to improve its capacity to conduct air operations and respond to terrorist threats.

The latest delivery is expected to support the Nigerian Air Force in its operations against insurgents and other armed groups threatening communities across the country.

The US has previously provided military and technical assistance to Nigeria as part of broader security cooperation between both countries.

The development comes as Nigerian security agencies continue operations against terrorism, banditry and other forms of insecurity across several parts of the country.
