Councillor gets US commendation over community projects

The United State Government has recognised the Leader of Isolo Local Council Development (LCDA), Hon. Remy Shittu Remy, for his ‘good works’ in the community, especially during the lockdown.

The commendation, according to the US, was centered on his legislation in the council area, active involvement in sensitising residents about coronavirus as well as distribution of food items to more than 750 residents during the lockdown.

While congratulating the councillor, the US Embassy in Nigeria said it has been observing and monitoring his legislative and oversight functions in the council area and his efforts in his ward.

The United State Embassy in Nigeria wrote: “Congratulations to Hon. Remy Shittu, 2018 International Visitors Leadership Program Alumnus and Speaker of the Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA).Mr. Shittu has been actively involved in sensitizing the citizens in Isolo LCDA (Apena Ward) on the COVID-19 virus pandemic and recently represented the Lagos State Councilors’ Forum at the Lagos State House of Assembly during a briefing with the State Commissioner for Health. During the nationwide lockdown, Remy distributed food items to over 750 residents and he is committed to distributing face masks to stem community spread of the virus. Keep up the good work!”

Remy became alumnus of the International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) after attending and participating in the US Electoral Process; the Mid Term Elections from October 27 to November 17, 2018, a program fully sponsored by the US Department of State.

“I must confess that this came as a surprise to me and it means a lot considering the fact that I didn’t realise they were watching. I am undoubtedly encouraged to remain selfless and relentless in my service to my constituent on whose mandates I’ve been afforded this international recognition and commendation.”
