Nigerian heavyweight boxer Efe Ajagba defeated Johnnie Rice by unanimous decision on Sunday to improve his record to 14-0-11.
The result means Ajagba, 26, remains unbeaten after 14 career fights, having 11 of those bouts via knockout.
Ajagba received top scores from all judges in the fight. Judges Dave Moretti and Adalaide Byrd gave him a score of 99 against his opponent’s score of 91. Equally, Judge Max De Luca gave the bout 98-92 in Ajagba’s favour.
Despite fighting with an elbow injury, Ajagba dominated in what was largely a one-sided fight. He landed 136 of 406 punches compared to Rice who landed a meager 39 of 269 punches.
The defeat is Rice’s second since the start of the year. The American had lost in a March 7 bout to Dean McKenna.
“My second time going the distance, a valuable lesson learned. Improving on to 14-0, I’ll be back soon!!,” Ajagba said on Instagram after the fight.
