 Emir of Zazzau, Shehu Idris, dies at 84

Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris, has died aged 84.

He was the 18th in line of Fulani Emirs to rule in Zazzau and was Chairman of Zazzau Emirate Council and Kaduna State Emirate Council.

Bashir Ahmad, Personal Assistant on New Media to President Muhammadu Buhari, confirmed the Emir’s death on Twitter today.

He tweeted: “The Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji (Dr.) Shehu Idris died at the age of 84, he had been on the throne for over 40 years. May Allah (SWA) forgive all his shortcomings and grant him Jannah al-Firdaus.”

The departed Emir was born on 20th February, 1936, and ascended the throne on 5th February 1975 after the death of Muhammadu Amir, the 17th Emir of Zazzau.
