 Edo Election: Obaseki wins Ize-Iyamu’s LGA

Godwin Obaseki, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party Edo Governorship election, has defeated his opponent, Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress, in the latter’s Orhiomwon Local Government Area.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, the PDP candidate received 13,455 votes while the APC candidate polled a 10,458 votes.

The APC flagbearer Osagie Ize-Iyamu is from Iguododo in Orhiomwon Local Government Area.

Meanwhile, Obaseki’s running mate, Philip Shaibu, also lost his Local Government Area in Etsako West to the APC candidate.

Per INEC figures, the APC received 26,140 votes in Etsako West, which is over 8,000 more than the PDP’s total of 17,959 votes.

Results coming in from other LGAs in the state, however, show the PDP to be in the lead. So far, the party has won 12 LGAs while the APC has won just 5.
