APC Alleges Widespread Distribution Of Small Arms In Edo Ahead Of Election

By Emmanuel Awosika

The All Progressives Congress Campaign Council for the Edo State Gubernatorial Election has alleged the proliferation of small arms in Edo as the state prepares to elect a new governor on September 19, 2020.

Patrick Obahiagbon, Vice-Chairman, Communication and Publicity Committee of the council, made the allegation while addressing journalists in Abuja on Friday.

Obahiagbon had also allegedly accused rival Peoples Democratic Party of bringing in thugs from other states to Edo.

He said he was disappointed that thugs were distributing firearms and using them as if they were “political chewing gums.”

Obahiagbon also dismissed a claim by the PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, that APC was putting pressure on the Independent National Electoral Commission to postpone the election.

According to him, the APC was not pushing for a postponement because it was “poised to win” the election.
