 Armed robbers arrested during robbery operation in Ogun State

Police in Ogun State have nabbed three robbery suspects during an operation in the Iju/Ota area of the state.

The suspects namely, Bamidele Oluwashina (31); Adebowale Kehinde (32) and Oluwasegun Abayomi were apprehended while robbing at the at Iju Love bus stop, Ota on November 12.

According to the police statement, the robbers attacked a man, identified as Tosin Ajayi, and injured him in the process.

Ogun State Police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that operatives at the Onipanu Divisional Headquarters made the arrests after receiving intelligence that the robbers were terrorising people at the Iju Love Bus Stop.

Upon arriving at the scene, the policemen battled the thieves in a gunfight. One of the thieves was apprehended while the others escaped.

But the security operatives sealed the area and launched a manhunt which later led to the arrest of the fleeing robbers.

Items recovered from the thieves include one locally-made pistol and two live cartridges

Oyeyemi said the suspects will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for interrogation and eventual prosecution.
