Atiku criticises Tinubu over European vacation amid insecurity
The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has criticised President Bola Tinubu over his decision to embark on a three-week vacation in Europe.
Atiku questioned the timing of the President’s trip, arguing that the country was facing serious security and economic challenges that required urgent attention.
The former vice president made his position known in a statement by his media team on Sunday.
He described Nigeria as being in a difficult situation, citing insecurity and other challenges confronting citizens.
Atiku said the President should remain focused on addressing the problems facing the country rather than leaving the country for a vacation.
He also criticised what he described as the government’s handling of insecurity, particularly attacks and killings in parts of the country.
The ADC candidate said Nigerians expected the Federal Government to demonstrate leadership and take decisive steps to address the challenges confronting the nation.
His comments followed the Presidency’s announcement that Tinubu had commenced a three-week annual leave and travelled to Europe.
The President’s vacation comes amid continued political activities ahead of the 2027 general election.
