Bandits late Saturday night released another batch of 15 more of the 80 remaining kidnapped Bethel Baptist High School, Kaduna.

The release of the 15 students was confirmed on Sunday by the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Kaduna, Rev Joseph Hayab.

Hayab said that the students were on Saturday night set free by the bandits.

Twenty-eight of the total 121 students were earlier released on July 25 following the payment of N50million ransom after they had spent 20 days in captivity.

Bandits had on July 1, 2021, at about 2am stormed the school premises located in Damishi along the Kaduna-Kachia Highway, Chikun Local Government Area of the state, and abducted the 121 students.

But the Kaduna CAN chairman said 65 students are still in the captivity of the bandits.

According to Hayab, parents will only pick their children and return to their individual homes without any form of ceremony to welcome the released students.

After collecting N100million ransom last month, the bandits, who released the first batch of 28 students on July 25 had promised that the remaining students would be released in batches.

But after they released the 28 students in July, the bandits were said to have demanded another N80m for the release of the remaining 80 students.

An undisclosed amount of money was said to have been paid before the latest batch of 15 students were freed on Saturday night.
