The former governor of Ekiti State, Engineer Segun Oni, has assured the people of the state great turnaround of the economic hardship the residents and Nigerians are currently facing.

Oni gave this assurance while commissioning a set of borehole projects in the state capital – Ado-Ekiti recently.

The water projects were initiated in two wards in the state capital by Opeyemi David Falegan through his foundation ODF with the promise of extending the kind gesture to the remaining wards.

While commissioning the project, Oni appreciated the the initiator for the laudable projects as he emphasised the importance of water as a basic necessity for human existence and survival.

His words: “This is a sign of love, honesty, commitment and purity. The development is not new, Opeyemi took after his father. Baba Falegan is a father to all and a lover of his people

“During my tenure as the governor, the Ureje Water facility we inherited when we assumed office was built by foreigners but the capacity couldn’t serve the masses at large. We came up with the idea of expanding it and we achieved that, although I can’t ascertain maybe those facilities are still working as I speak to you.”

The Former Governor also assured the Ekiti residents that better days are coming for them.

He noted the economic hardship people are currently facing both at the federal and state levels, assuring them that the PDP will surely take over and bring the deserving comfort to the citizens.

The founder of ODF, Opeyemi Falegan, in his remarks, said: “I started these sets of programme six years ago with various empowerment programmes, agricultural support initiatives and many more. I decided to start the borehole projects because the state capital is facing hardship in getting what God gave to man in excess. I will keep investing in the borehole programmes until we have them done in all the 177 wards in Ekiti State.”

He applauded the former Governor, Segun Oni, as his mentor, saying: “In fact, everywhere he goes, I follow. I believe in his activities and the only advice I can give all Ekiti sons and daughters is to support him in his bid to govern Ekiti come 2022.”
