Call for resignation, wish of a frustrated opposition- Lagos APC tells PDP

By Modupe Shodeinde

The Lagos State All progressive Congress (APC) has said that the call by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to resign was unwarranted and “the wish of a frustrated opposition”.

The ruling party, in reaction to the PDP’s assertion that Sanwo-Olu was never prepared for the job and should resign if he was overwhelmed, has said that the opposition party was only pushing for anarchy in the state.

The PDP in a statement by it’s Publicity Secretary, Taofik Gani, had accused the incumbent Governor of Lagos State of not performing well in the areas of security, infrastructural development, transport, commerce and sustenance of public trust.

However, the Lagos APC Publicity Secretary Seye Oladejo, in a statement said that Sanwo-Olu will not be distracted by the antics of the PDP, whose advice he described as “unfunded and uncouth.”

Oladejo commended Sanwo-Olu for his management of the unfortunate events that arose in the aftermath of the initially peaceful EndSARS protest which snowballed into the breakdown of law and order in the state.

“The role of the governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as a topmost crisis manager is not lost on all and sundry.

“The visits to the various hospitals treating the injured and the motivation and incentives provided for the members of the Nigeria Police Force are remarkably commendable.” he stated.

He however accused the PDP of jubilating over the destruction of public properties in Lagos and harbouring a plot to seize power through the back door.

“The PDP in Lagos State that suddenly came to life in the past week owes the innocent members of the public detailed explanation about its ignominious and condemnable role in the mayhem.

“The intermittent falsehood about governance in the state fed to the unsuspecting public fanned the ember of the unprecedented violence, which has left in its wake sorrow, tears and blood.

“The dream of PDP to govern Lagos State through the back door after persistent rejection at the polls remains a nightmare.” he said.

According to Oladejo, the Lagos State Government’s priority remains the security of lives and property and all round development.

Declaring his assurance in the governor, he stated that the state government was working to provide temporary accommodation to forestall the breakdown of law and order in the state.

According to him, the governor has given firm reassurance that all losses will be revamped in no time.
