COVID-19: Ooni donates Nigeria made motorised fumigators to Lagos

In his effort to support Lagos in the fight against COVID-19, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, on Tuesday donated three locally-made motorised modular fumigators and other items to the Lagos State Government.

Other items donated by the monarch include a drone sprinkler.

Ogunwusi, said the gesture was to help the state government in the fight against coronavirus.

According to the monarch, the fumigators, which were locally fabricated, are environmentally-friendly, would convert the liquid sanitizer to fog, travel faster and stay longer to fight coronavirus and any other virus in the community.

He said, “The activities of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other world leaders is commendable as they continue the battle against the pandemic and this has encouraged me to come up with the disinfecting machines to help protect the environment.

“Lagos as the epicenter of the pandemic in Nigeria deserves all the support and I want to commend Governor Sanwo-Olu for giving regular updates to Lagosians on the steps being taken by his government to contain the virus.”

Ogunwusi also urged Nigerians to look beyond palliatives by coming up with local solutions.

Receiving the donations, Sanwo-Olu commended the monarch for educating people at the rural level on COVID-19.

He said, “I want to commend you, for using your office as an institution to let our people know that what we are going through is real, it is not something that anybody has conjured, but it is something we can come together and solve collectively.”
