 DRID sensitises LASUSTECH departmental heads, deans on research innovation

The Directorate of Research Innovation and Development (DRID) in conjunction with the University Senate Committee on Research and Innovation has sensitised Heads of Department and Deans of Colleges of the institution on research renovation.
During an awareness meeting/orientation organised for them at the Conference Centre by the Directorate, the staff members were charged to embrace innovation while doing their research works.
 They also created research groups in line with key areas of specialization while intimating the staff with TETFUND Research Grants opportunities.
The session was facilitated by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Research Innovation and Development, Prof. Lukman Adeoti, who urged members of academic staff to dispense sound academic leadership, saying their integrity matters.
He explained that HODs are important and relevant in the University and must be abreast of researches being carried out in the institution.
He urged them to always encourage the younger lecturers, saying they should not be condemned at their weaknesses.
Speaking further, Prof  Adeoti urged the DFID and Departments to organise trainings for their HODs as they are the driving force and guard of activities in their departments.
He encouraged members of staff to attend conferences, adding that it builds relationship and networks for growth and collaboration.
“The essence of research is to inform the whole world on issues and also proffer possible solutions. Misinformation is not allowed hence, interaction and collaboration are essential tools to leverage on,” he added.
In his remark, the Director of DRID, Engr. Olalere Rafiu outlined the efforts and steps the directorate has taken as he pledged to intensify efforts to be accurate.
