Elon Musk says Nigeria recorded four million more births than EU
Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has claimed that Nigeria recorded about four million more births than the entire European Union last year.
Musk made the remark in a post on his X account on Saturday, citing figures generated by his artificial intelligence chatbot, Grok.
According to the data referenced in the post, Nigeria recorded an estimated 7.8 million births in 2025, while the European Union recorded about 3.5 million births during the same period.
“Nigeria alone had 4 million more births than the entire EU last year!” Musk wrote on X.
The comparison comes amid ongoing global discussions on demographic trends, with many European countries experiencing declining birth rates and ageing populations, while Nigeria remains one of the world’s fastest-growing populations.
