#EndSARS: Hoodlums attack protesters, burn vehicles in Abuja

By Emmanuel Awosika

#EndSARS protesters calling for an end to police brutality were attacked this morning in Abuja, several reports have said.

The protesters, who gathered at the premises of the Central Bank of Nigeria, were allegedly attacked by thugs who destroyed cars and other properties belonging to protesters.

Activists and convener of the Concerned Nigerians group, Deji Adeyanju, alleged that the thugs were paid by the Federal Government to disrupt the protest.

He tweeted: “The state sponsored thugs came to Abuja protest ground trice but were repelled. They waited till many comrades had gone home to get sleep around 3.30am before attacking with guns. Police supervised the attack. The struggle continues today. #EndSARS.”

The attack comes after a man, Anthony Onome, was killed during an attack on #EndSARS protesters by thugs in Abuja.

Despite the attacks, many of the #EndSARS protesters have declared readiness to continue their demonstrations.

“Some of our people were injured in today’s Government-sponsored attack at CBN HQ in Abuja. Please keep them in your prayers for safe recovery. This struggle continues. #ENDSARS #OccupyAbuja”, Twitter user @KelvinOdanz said.
