EndSARS: Massive gridlock at Lekki Tollgate as protesters mount blockade

By Emmanuel Awosika

Commuters on the Lekki-Epe Expressway have been stranded for hours after EndSARS protesters mounted a blockade at the Lekki Toll Gate this morning.

The travellers, many of them headed to their workplaces, have been forced to turn back or seek alternate routes, as traffic around the toll gate has ground to a halt.

Protests have been mounting against the the activities of the controversial Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Police force, with many calling for an end to the unit.

Although, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, announced the disbandment of SARS, protesters are calling for an executive order to finally put an end to the group.

They are demanding that the government carry out psychological evaluation and retraining of former SARS officials before redeploying them.

They also want that SARS operatives responsible for killing innocent youths be prosecuted and their families paid compensation.
