Fani-Kayode challenges US firm over Tinubu allegations

Nigeria’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Femi Fani-Kayode, has challenged a United States-based political advisory and lobbying firm to provide evidence supporting allegations it has made against President Bola Tinubu.

Fani-Kayode made the call while reacting to the firm’s campaign concerning alleged links between Tinubu and a past drug investigation in the United States.

He described the allegations as unsubstantiated and challenged the firm to present evidence to support its claims.

“Produce your evidence and prove your case,” Fani-Kayode said.

The former Minister of Aviation said those making allegations against the President should be prepared to substantiate them rather than rely on claims made in the media or on social media.

The controversy relates to records from a 1990s investigation in the United States that have been the subject of renewed political and legal attention.

The firm has called for the release of documents relating to the matter and has raised questions about Tinubu’s past in the United States.

Tinubu has denied wrongdoing in connection with the allegations.

The dispute comes amid heightened political activity ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, with supporters and opponents of the President exchanging allegations and counterclaims over his record and past.

Fani-Kayode urged those making the allegations to rely on verifiable evidence rather than accusations that have not been established.
