FG confirms Monday resumption for Unity Colleges

The Federal Government has confirmed that Federal Unity Colleges across the country will resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026.

The Federal Ministry of Education said the safety and wellbeing of students and staff remained a priority as the colleges prepare to reopen for the new academic session.

The ministry said measures had been put in place to ensure that students return to school in a safe environment.

The resumption follows concerns over the security of schools in some parts of the country, particularly amid attacks on educational institutions and other security challenges.

The Federal Government said it would continue to work with relevant security agencies and other stakeholders to strengthen security around Unity Colleges.

School authorities have also been directed to remain vigilant and take appropriate measures to protect students and staff.

The ministry urged parents and guardians to cooperate with the schools and comply with instructions regarding the resumption of students.

Federal Unity Colleges are government-owned secondary schools established across the country to provide education to students from different parts of Nigeria. The Federal Ministry of Education currently oversees 104 Federal Unity Colleges.

The resumption is expected to mark the beginning of the 2026/2027 academic session in the affected schools.
