Premier League: Manchester derby to test Maresca, Chelsea face unbeaten Hull

Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca will face his first major test since taking charge of the club when his side visits Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.

City have won their opening three league matches under Maresca and also began their Champions League campaign with a victory over Porto. However, their performances have not always matched their results, with Coventry City missing chances in their 1-0 defeat to City last weekend.

City have undergone significant changes since Maresca replaced Pep Guardiola, including a major overhaul of the squad during the transfer window.

Erling Haaland has provided a consistent source of goals, scoring five times in four matches this season. The Norway international has also moved to third on Manchester City’s all-time scoring list.

Manchester United, meanwhile, have made a less convincing start to the season, collecting four points from their opening three league games.

Michael Carrick’s side lost to newly promoted Hull City before beating Ipswich Town and drawing 2-2 with Everton. United will now face City at Old Trafford in the first Manchester derby of the season.

Elsewhere, Chelsea will host Hull City on Saturday as they look to end the promoted side’s unbeaten start to the season.

Hull have not conceded in their opening three league matches, recording two wins and a draw. Chelsea, under Xabi Alonso, suffered their first league defeat of the season against Arsenal last weekend but responded by beating Leeds United 6-3 in the Carabao Cup.

Chelsea will rely on their attacking players to break down a Hull defence that has kept three consecutive clean sheets.

Arsenal, who have won all three of their league matches, will also be in action on Saturday when they travel to face Sunderland.

Liverpool will host Fulham, while Tottenham will take on Everton in other fixtures scheduled for the weekend.
