I never asked Obaseki to return to APC, Ize-Iyamu says

By Emmanuel Awosika

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, standard-bearer of the All Progressives Congress in the just concluded Edo State Governorship Election, has denied begging his opponent, Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party, to return to APC.

Earlier, reports of the Ize-Iyamu appealing to Obaseki to decamp to his old party had appeared in a number of publications.

However, Ize-Iyamu has come out to disprove those reports, saying he had not made such statements.

Speaking through the Director of Communication and Media for his campaign organization, John Mayaki, the APC candidate asked news media to perform due diligence in reporting events arising from Edo State because unprofessionalism would render them as “tools for PDP.”

Mayaki also released a statement on Thursday on the official website of the Osagie Ize-Iyamu Campaign, pastorosagieizeiyamu.com, where he debunked the false reports.

According to him, the video which had led to the rumors was made some months before the election, contrary to what journalists stated.

“The video in reference is from three months ago, not after the election but doctored by Governor Obaseki media handlers to seek undue legitimacy,” he added.
