I never sponsored attack on EndSARS protesters — MC Oluomo

By Emmanuel Awosika

Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Lagos State, Musiliu Akinsaya, aka MC Oluomo, has denied sponsoring attacks on EndSARS protesters in Lagos.

Earlier, protesters calling for an end to activities of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) were attacked by hoodlums in Lagos, prompting rumors that the NURTW leader ordered the attack.

Speaking in an interview, spokesman to the NURTW boss, Jimoh Buhari, said that reports linking him to the attacks were unfounded.

He called on members of the public to desist from levelling false allegations against MC Oluomo about his purported involvement with the ugly incident.

“We have no hand in the attacks. People should stop accusing us wrongly. Were the thugs wearing NURTW uniforms? Is MC Oluomo holding a political office? He has no hand in the case,” he said.

The spokesman also said that NURTW workers were also victims of the high-handedness of SARS officials. Thus, he said, the union had nothing to gain from disrupting a protest that served its interests.
