Multiple reports coming out of Italy suggest Zlatan Ibrahimovic has agreed a deal worth about €7m (without bonuses) with AC Milan to remain at the club for one more season.

The striker, who turns 39 in October, posted a picture of himself wearing an AC Milan shirt with the number 11 written over the 21, with the caption: “As I said, I’m just warming up”.

The Swedish forward had rejoined AC Milan, a club he played for in his heydays, from American Major League Soccer Side, Los Angeles Galaxy.

Upon his arrival, Ibrahimovic made his impact felt immediately, scoring an impressive 11 goals in 20 games for the Rossoneri, which helped propel the club from 11th to to 6th in the Serie A.

AC Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis said of the deal: “I think that we can all see that Ibra has played an important part in our season and our growth

“We are doing everything we can to see that this can continue.”

Having last tasted silverware in 2011, AC Milan are looking to challenge rivals including Juventus, Inter Milan, and Napoli for the Seria A title in the new season which kicks off on September 19.

And Ibrahimovic may be the man to help them achieve it – after all, he was instrumental in leading the Rossoneri to their Serie A title in 2011. Only time will tell if big striker can repeat the feat.
